Quake 3 help

i bought the quake pack off steam and after ive downloaded it and run team arena the game comes up but flickers and i can hardly read anything. anyone have any ideas how i can fix it?
im running vista home premium 64bit
spec is in sig

Try setting the game resolution to native res for your monitor, if it's widescreen you'll need to do this via the config file / console:

r_mode "-1"
r_customwidth "1680"
r_customheight "1050"
vid_restart

Adjust the numbers to suit
