Quake 4 and brightness/gamma issue

I have decided to finish Quake 4, and discovered as the last time I played, that when I exit the game my desktop gamma/brightness is very high.The actual settings in my control panel haven't changed?? A reboot solves the problem. I have this with any Forceware drivers, so it's not those. I am running Quake v1.04. I am reluctant to upgrade to v1.2 because i read it borks your saved games. Any ideas folks.

EDIT: Sorted. Installed v1.2, didn't loose my saved games and no gamma issue

Good good I was going to say your better upgrading to 1.2 anyway as it fixes lots of issues. Have fun
