So I thought I'd pick this up again today and actually finish it this time, istalled it all and changed all *** settings etc. Now I notice when I playing that a lot of the time I'm either running at 60fps or a little lower then suddenly it flies up to liek 200fps at this point the game then runs as if it has mega haste :p

My reloads take virtually no time and the bots can move stupidly fast, now its damn fun when it's running that fast but when it's running slow it's just annoying at times, though I do love the ability to dodge most of their bullets

Anyone know how to stop this from happening?

Sure did, com_fixedtick "1"

Now I know if I put it back to "0" it will fix it but a lot of the time I don't get near 60fps yet as soon as I set it to "1" I get mad fps :)

Summit up there

"Finish it", "bots" ? Are you playing single player? There is a 60fps lock on the game engine by default, don't worry about that, but are you saying that when it shoots up (for how long?) the whole game speeds up?

Backup your quake4config.cfg file then delete it and run the game and see if that fixes it.

edit: just missed you post, just leave the fixed tick on. Don't need any more fps :)

There is no point in removing the 60fps lock.

In the Doom3 engine, everything is tied into the 60fps base rate - physics, character movement, everything. If you were to increase the framerate (while keeping the same rate of passage of time of course) you would only be drawing repeat frames.

Stop messing with the tick then :)

Don't have much choice really, though if it didn't go really slow in places I'd be happy for it to run at such a high pace, makes it so much more fun :p
