Quake Wars worth £7?

I've seen this game new for £7. Now I was led to believe that it was crap but I've seen a lot of positive comments about it off another website.

Worth a punt then?

Played the demo, wouldn't pay £7 myself. People who own the full thing might be better to judge it though.

Don't listen to them! ET:QW is a great game...not only can it be a great fragfest, but there's a lot of teamwork and strategy involved as well...I'd say it's a bargain for £7!

I think a lot of people **** it off because of the steep-ish learning curve.

It looks quite quality but I didnt like how the beta played that much, it wasnt totally rubbish depends if you can find anything else you like playing.
On the other hand theres always peking spare ribs

No it was on a consumer website for deals. Some of the comments were very positive, I was expecting the exact opposite.

Couldn't get into BF2142 so thought it might be worth a try.

for £7 id say its definately worth a purchase. Unfortunately the game hasnt quite grasped the appeal im sure the developers would have wished for but in my opinion its a great shooter

As with any online FPS the lack of teamwork in these kind of games is what is often the killer. Quake wars suffers from this as with most but take the time and find a decent server and the game is as good as any squad based shooter out there.

I came from a background of novalogic shooters from Delta Force 1 through to joint operations and DF Extreme. ETQW was the first game my squad moved into since joint ops that we are still playing.

COD4 held the interest for a while but most fo our players spend more time in ETQW now. Myself i like both, COD4 is better in small doses wheras in ETQW i can spend hours.

Anyway for £7 you cant really lose

I don't really know what went wrong with Quake Wars. It looked brilliant in the previews, all the usual places were bigging it up to be better than Battlefield 2 - the demo came out and it was terrible!

There's more people in a takeaway than there is on Quakewars servers.

i bought it for a tenner, I dont 'hate' the game, there's just something lacking imo. I cant put my finger on it. Meal for one, go for it!

Think I played it for a few days and got distracted by trackmania nations - Battlefield 2 was much more enjoyable.

ETQW is a great game but it has a very steep learning curve. Hence a lot of people not liking it.

Had to really push myself to play the multiplayer beta more then twice.

Not great... hard to argue with £7 though.

bought it on release date played it few times and never went back to it when i formatted it got a copy if any1 wants it
