played a few games not played for a while, how long has that advertising been there? of thats whats going to happen then I won't bother with it no more, can't they just release a patch for QuakeIII so i can play without all the ads ?

Play Quake 3 if you don't want ads otherwise you have to put up with them in Quakelive, how do you think they make money to develope the game and give us servers to play on? It's a free game.

quakelive is an improvment over quake3 and I would be willing to buy a add free version

They said from the start it would be an ad supported version of quake 3 online.

No reason that they can't offer a premium service to remove the ads. It's their game, their copyright, their servers. They can pull it today and put it up tomorrow as a commercial game if they wanted to.
