Morning all,

Just wondering if anyone has managed to come across some quality fence panels that they could recommend? I'm wanting some 3ft and 6ft panels, preferably closeboard type (vertical)

All the ones I've come across, jewsons bq etc are just pure dire and warp and gap within months of installation.

Cheers guys

Do a google search for local independent fence suppliers, these are usually much better than the rubbish at main building suppliers and diy stores.

Local timber merchant will generally always be better quality than DIY sheds

I've just bought a load of 3ft closeboard panels from my local supplier that seem decent quality and not that much more expensive than DIY shops

Ours have lasted over 20 years from a proper timber merchant but we're now looking at plastic ones at £18 per panel and I will need 3 per gap.
Bloke over the road has just had them and I'm impressed, I can no longer do DIY like I used to

I have gone all plastic - First lot were £10 per 1 foot panel then half way through the pandemic they hit £17 - Mine are Eco panels from Eurocell in Shrewsbury - I picked brown as we had seen one on our drive to Whitchurch - We are pleased with it even though it cost a arm and a leg but I can look forward to not having to chase them up road if wind gets up or even look after them. They do fade though. It did also help having concrete posts already in place with gravel boards.
I did put a length of 40mm waste pipe under mine to get them off top of gravel board - didn't like the way the base curve sat on top of gravel board. Also the Dick next door didn't put the posts and boards back perfectly level after taking them up to do his paving so needed to put a few spacers under boards -The Dick has moved.
Mine are 4ft and 5ft in height and about 20 panels.

The ones I was looking at are from Eurocell in Stoke but in grey.
A 20 year guarantee so that will do me and zero maintenance.

I have to say I was considering plastic ones but first I'd like to add some more concrete gravel boards. While going the full 6x300mm with gravel boards seems crazy (and potentially dangerous if they ever come down), I though if I put in two 300mm concrete boards on top the existing 150mm one.

That would get me to 750mm. Then 4x300mm plastic/composite boards. Since smaller wooden ones tend to be poorly priced compared to full 1,800mm ones, plastic makes sense as they don't penalise for effectively getting segments.

300mm concrete gravel boards are crazily heavy and unlike when fitting new I'd have to get them 2m up and over, so would have to construct some kind of pulley thing.

So OP, I'm only musing out loud here and am unable to review any!

We used Grange Fencing Elite/Premium range a few years ago. I was in the timber yard last week asking for PAR fence posts. I was told Grange is now a Polish company and not as good as they used to be.

You could try suppliers of https://kdm.co.uk/garden-products/ They look well spec'd "Framing = 44mm x 100mm PAR 40mm x 95mm. Boards = 22mm x 125mm PAR 19mm x 120mm. Panel includes 30mm x 65mm rebated capping"
