Hey,
looking to build 4 workstations running i7 2600k with the MSI p67 GD65 (b3 revision) and we need a quality PSU but i have no idea whats what when it comes to PSU. We plan on running single gtx460's, 8-16gb ram, and either single drive or raid-0 drives. Ive narrowed it down to these 2, although i would rather stay away from 800w+, power consumption will be an issue, and efficiency is prime but these machines will run almost 24/7 at full load for long periods of time.

are the protection features worth it, or is the dc to dc of the truepower better? However if there would be a better more reliable PSU for upto around £110 would i be better spending a little more? I would prefer modular as id like to keep these cases as cool and clean as possible.

Thanks

LOL @ 750w supply for that rig?

try this, much better supply and more than enough power for an SB i7 rig with GTX460 :)

we will be overclocking the systems as far as we can push them, and for the extra £20 it gives us a little more future proof, should we decide to purchase a high end Quadro card or SLI geforce cards. I would also rather go for more than we need as these system need to be mission critical.

I hadnt seen the 750 XFX, i heard good things about the seasonic PSU's and that black edition is a rebrand right?

If running 24/7 you might want to look at 80Plus Gold efficiency PSUs or at least Silver. I just installed a 92% efficient supply and the savings are quite a lot over a Bronze unit. If running 24/7 at full load you'd expect to save around a KWh per day. The difference in cost will soon be recouped in lower leccy bills.

is theres much difference between silver and gold? the XFX750W is silver, the only 80plus gold i can see is the corsair for £50 more,

think ill go for the Corsair Professional Series Gold AX750, "Over-voltage and over-current protection, under-voltage protection, and short circuit protection" aswell as the " and the completely modular cables is a good bonus. Id rather get a better PSU and make sure nothing goes wrong along with a surge protector
