Guys

I spend many hours lurking on these forums and still haven't managed to decide whether or not I need to scratch my 4k itch.

I did have a 24" generic monitor alongside my long serving Dell 27" 1440p U2711 and ditched the 24" for a RoG Swift, which is pretty cool in FPS games as we know.

But. I am tempted now to change my trusty Dell for a 4K, thinking 32" so I can play slower games i.e. Talos Principle and Divinity: Original Sin in 4K glory.

It's a complete extravagance of course given that I've already got two 27" monitors which are great in different ways but I am really thinking why not go for it.

Suppose the question revolves around demarcation of having two monitors, 4K against the RoG Swift in terms of usage.

As I said in my title, it's a quandary.

I'd say go for it with a rig like the one in your sig, that's probably one of the few that will run most stuff in 4k

And remember you really don't need any AA in 4k at 32" so your frame rate should be pretty good for most games, unless you play competitive

Depends on what kind of 4k screen you're going for I suppose but if it's a non-IPS screen, I'd wait for IPS 4k screens to get a bit cheaper or stretch your budget (if that's an option). I had the same itch about three months ago and switched from an AOC Q2770PQU screen (a 1440p IPS screen) to a 28" Samsung U28D590D and have been rather disappointed.

Now the extra resolution IS lovely but the loss of colour depth and viewing angles has really dampened my enthusiasm for it. Don't get me wrong, it can look astonishingly good but I do miss the rich hues that IPS brings... guess that's what you get for not actually looking at one first :)

I would say just stick with the rog
Properly configured you lose nothing in vibrancy, but the motion clarity is amazing

I also had a 4k for a bit and after having my eyes opened by the rog, the motion blur on the 4k and my old IPS just did my head in, i still have my 1440ips as a 2nd screen but sold the 4k
