I fancied giving my PC a little cheapish boost. It does everything I need mostly but think that I could do with a little more ram perhaps? I have at the moment 1gb of crutial Cl2. Just wondered what would be best to make things a little smoother. Lots of cheap n chearful ie. 3gb of cheap stuff you see at pc fairs usually cl3. Or, 2gb of quality ram? Or should i just leave it as it is. My ram is 2 sticks of 512mb with 1 spare slot so would a 1 gb stick in 3rd dim be as good as 2 1gb sticks to achieve 2gb? oooh I dont know....what do you guys think? Quality or Quantity??
Thanks for your time!

This depends on your long-term goals for me. If you're planning to stick with DDR1 for a reasonable time into the future then I'd sell one of the the 512 sticks and get a decent matched 2Gb pair, then you will have 2.5Gb in your three slots.

If however you're planning a DDR2 upgrade in the near future I would buy the cheapest single 1Gb stick you can find and enjoy the cheap 2Gb until you upgrade.

Well i probably wont be seriously upgrading for a good year or so. Cant see the point as my pc seems fine tbh. I`m not a massive game player but the new C&C3 looks a bit tasty so want to be able to play that. Tried the demo n seems ok although slows a bit when it all kicks off!!....Anyway, just out of interest....is large amounts of cheap memory better than a smaller amount of quality....just interested....thanks for for your reply anyway....it was helpful. Cheers

More RAM would be better, as CAS3 is still going to be a lot faster than being lumbered with the swap.

Also if you go with three modules you'll de-activate dual channel mode?
