I have just been reading the latest sticky from Admiral Huddy, which I had actually expected to see on here also, and would like to clarify one point please.

Is it OK to mention a competitor (such as one of the DSG group for example) in connection with a product which OcUK do not stock, like (as another example) DECT telephones.

It was just that I was about to post about a mis-price I have found on there, but do not obviously want to break any Forum rules.

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I thought that it was a point worth clarifying anyway.

Thanks! :)

IIRC it can be done with big companies who sell a huge variety of products so long as its not something computer related (e.g. buying a car off ebay). But you wouldn't be able to link to a product which ocuk could sell but dont (e.g. a 6950 toxic). If that makes sense....

My recollection is that you can talk about a competitor if you're not talking about something both they and OcUK stock OR that competitor's core business is not hardware. For example, linking Amazon deals for stuff OcUK doesn't sell is fine, but linking computer hardware on Amazon is not, neither is linking, say, a PC game that OcUK sells UNLESS there's a considerable difference in price (i.e. Amazon is having a sale and that particular bit of software is going for half the price it is on OcUK).

Strange way of working it, but that's how I recall the outcome of the "only 10%" debacle (that was related to linking PC games, right?).
