Hi Folks I have purchased a new master socket for my home which I have linked below as OcUK do not sell these. I understand this socket has a filter for the bell wire but will I still need a Microfilter for the phone? The actual router is connected to an extension socket which is filtered but just wondering if the phone will need a filter when connected to the new master socket I have bought? I'm not installing this myself by the way :D Many thanks!

That's just a standard NTE5 socket. Any phone in that socket (or any other) will still need filtered. The socket doesn't filter anything at all. Don't connect the Bell wire up at all.

Ok thanks. It would make sense not to connect up the bell wire but just in case my mate does connect it then I'm covered with this socket I guess :D I just let him get on with it.

Was thinking that myself but the router is not connected to the master socket anyway so no biggie. Want him to replace the socket and internal wiring as it's as old as tea!

An obvious point, but only OR or one of their subcontractors can legally replace a master socket (and they'll bring their own).

You can do more-or-less what you want your side of the master socket.

BT charge £150 for a call out however :( Worst comes to the worst I'll just get him to replace the internal house wiring and then the faceplate on the master socket. He's fully qualified but does work for Virgin, not BT :D
