Querying a database.

I have a set of data that I want to query in order to create a set of reports for users.

I want the user to be presented with a list of predefined reports on a web page.

What is the best way to do this please?

I should have said this is a MySQL DB on a Linux server.

asp.net web forms connected to the sql db. There's a lot to cover so get reading

Set this up and use something like eclipse birt to create the reports then you publish the reports to the server.

Office 365? Excel can connect directly to the DB and can pull the data out for you!

PowerBI / Office365 can be developed entirely online (albeit a lot more limited than the desktop application) but is really really good.

SSRS, can set it up to bung them out via e-mail as well.
