Quest 2 and AC88U

Thinking of getting my lad a Quest 2 for xmas, but have briefly read it requires Wifi6 to stream from the PC. I have the Asus AC88U which I believe is a 802AC wifi so 5?

Will this work when playing games like half life from my PC

Is there anything else I need to know about the Quest 2, I used to own a HTC Vive when it first came out and loved it but made me sick. How does the Quest 2 compare with the Vive in terms of motion sickness (refresh rates and screen resolution)

It doesn't require wifi 6, it can use it. Plenty of people have been fine with 5g wifi.

Quest 2 does not need WiFi 6 to stream with your PC (Via Virtual Desktop), WiFi 5 will work perfectly well. There maybe some improvement with WiFi6 but it is not a necessity.
You can also use a USB cable from the Q2 to your PC called Oculus Link but of course you will be tethered with this option.

I'll let more qualified members answer your other questions as I've never owned a Vive so cannot comment on that really other to say the resolution bump to the Q2 is quite substantial over the Vive.
In regards to refresh rate it will be on par soon with 90Hz (coming in a future update, currently officially on 72hz) which I think was the same as the Vive if memory serves.

Also wireless VR works much better when you're in the same room as the router.

My Router is upstairs, downstairs in the living room which is mostly where this VR will be used I can still get 200mpbs on my phone out of my 220mbps connection and my tv shows 150mbps (in the same room)

It may work great, but it may not. You won't know until you try it out to be honest. Wireless VR needs a rock-steady connection far above that needed for media streaming or web browsing. Any hitches in framerate when playing VR can make you feel physically sick.

Plus you need to factor in latency.

Ok thanks I'll keep this in mind, if not he might have to play in his room next door to the router.
