Hi, FPS issues with the Quest 2, using Tray Tool and with ASW I've tried a few things, off, forced 45 hz etc. but nothing seems to budge the headset above 35 FPS.

PC specs:
I7 8700k
16gb dual ram
GTX 980TI

Appreciated it's not a RTX 3000 series but it should be able to play medium settings higher than 35 fps. I am running the quest 2 on link cable and getting 2.1 GBPS.

Mainly playing Project Cars 2 and HL Alyx. PC2 is particularly set on being 35 FPS or lower, no matter what I do it never goes above it. Have looked online and messed around with settings, overclocking etc. etc. nothing seems to work.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Does it do the same for Oculus games? There are a few free Oculus games you can try like Aircar, First contact and others.

That'd show if it's a SteamVR issue or not.
Seems to be a good start. Spiderman VR demo running at higher FPS, so could be a Steam issue then. Any idea what magical setting to change? Haven't even looked at Steam VR settings, always loaded through the Quest app

Quest 2 is super high resolution, so it's possible Steam VR is running it at too high settings, and also your Oculus client may need the resolution reducing, Make sure the Steam VR resolution settings are set to no more than 100%, and use the Oculus link settings to adjust the resolution multiplier. You may need to reduce it from the default.

Also the video encode performance of a 980ti is likely to be much slower than a 10, 20, or 30 series card - that could have an effect as it's a compressed video stream rather than a straight HDMI or Displayport connection.
that fixed it, VR res on Steam was set over 100%. God bless you, literally hours wasted looking for that one thing

Thanks to all for taking the time to reply
