Has any quest 2 owner used their device in a really large space... like a hall or something similar?
I had a crazy idea of hiring out this local venue while things are quiet and taking my pc and quest down after buying half life Alyx the other week.
I fired up the game and just that opening scene on the balcony, I realised that teleporting around this game isn’t enough. I want to walk to every location.
Can’t really find any documentation mentioning room scale limits though so wouldn’t want to go only to find it cannot map the surfaces correctly.

i don't think there is a limit
you can turn off Guardian in the developer mode
i turn mine off as i normally do standing scale, but i always see the guardian

Ahaha good old YouTube to the rescue! Thanks for those. I’m gonna give it a shot, I just don’t have space in my house for room scale at all!

There is a limit to the guardian boundary size, I've hit it when using the Quest 1 in an empty office floor.
The weird thing is that the outer guardian boundary box is always the same orientation so for example I couldn't rotate it to avoid some columns that were in the way.
You can of course, turn off the guardian if developer mode is enabled, but then you need someone around to watch out for you to make sure you don't bump into anything or wander into hazardous areas.

You can also use the Quest outside, as long as it's not in direct sunlight, such as dusk when the sun is behind buildings or trees.
The two reasons to avoid direct sunlight are that it can burn the screens if it hits the lenses (they're basically super-powerful magnifying glasses), and because the Quest can't track the LEDs on the controllers if the light is too bright.

Being able to max out the guardian area is incredible, and many games are massively improved by being able to walk around rather than use thumbsticks to move. Some games can't handle it though - Robo Recall gets very confused about the position you're in if you walk around the level for example.

this surprises me to be honest, I had read previously that the sensors don’t work well outside? I definitely have more space in the garden.

You have to be careful, sunlight destroys the lenses.

Also, there can be a problem tracking if you are a large area of the same colour as there are no reference points.

yes! This is what I was thinking myself. I’ve been loving VR but being able to fully walk around in the virtual world would be amazing.
