Hi all,

Bit of a challenge - have setup a dedicated WiFi 6 router following great advice from you guys for my two quest 2 headsets.

All works great, however have hit a conundrum where if I'm trying to cast to my TV so folks can see what I see, it doesn't work as all the usual apps (eg airstream for firestick) are looking for devices in their network. As my quests are connected to their dedicated network, then this fails.

Any bright ideas on how to fix this?

Ah right.

So I've got my main mesh network on 10.0.0.1 and range.

Then I've got the Quests on a dedicated Asus WiFi 6 network 192.168.0.1 and range.

The PCs therefore are on the 10.0.0.1 network - virtual desktop etc seems to connect fine to them.

So I guess I need a way to bridge across so cast devices are found??

Why don't you just set the Asus router up as an Access point and keep it on the same range as the other network. There is no need to segregate it like that from the rest of the network.

Hmm, I think this would work - this wouldn't cause other devices to attach to this, would it? (Unless I explicitly chose them to?)

Just setup a password on the 5Ghz Wifi on the Asus Router and only use that password on the Quest 2.

You can setup another password for the 2.4Ghz network if you want other devices to use the Asus Router.

Sorry, being blonde here (and I'm a brunette, so that's something)

I've got an Orbi Mesh with five satellites on one network and then I've set up the Asus as a completely separate one.

Are you saying I should add the Asus as an access point to the first network, but with a different password for the 5ghz? Would it not need to have the same password as the rest of the network or would it appear as a separate ssid??

Yes with its own 5ghz SSID called something like Quest2WIFI

All you need to do is plug the network cable from the Wan port on the Asus Router and plug into a Lan port, then in the settings of the router set it up as an access point. That means it and anything that connects to it, like the Quest 2, will be on the same network as everything else in the house.

Then, do exactly as you said, setup an SSID for the Quest 2 with it's own password.
