Quest 3 accessories thread

fun fact, a Dell D6000 (uses DisplayLink and outputs 65w) works with a Q3
charging,
1x screen - HDMI
1x Network port
1x usb port at the front.

used it shrot term with a 3m usb-c extention cable

I've got a Lenovo dock here, tempted to try it now...

I do also have a D6000 but as you've already tested it, what would be the fun in that..

Any of guys using the AMVR facial interface? Either the original or updated model? Are you happy with it?

I have the Globular Magnetic Facial interface but I am very disappointed in it. For the first month of so it was brilliant, but it has slowly become more and more uncomfortable as the padding wears down. Whatever foam they are using inside the different covers is terrible. It has become more and more painful to wear over time as there is now almost nothing between you and the plastic of the interface. I have only have it for just over 6 months and I have been rotating between the three different pads since I got it.

So I am going back to the stock interface for the moment. And I am just wondering is the AMVR interface any better? Any long term owners here?

happy with mine, didn't know they updated it, so it must be the old one

i was waiting for the VR Cover to release theirs, but couldn't wait any longer using the stock one

I got the Meta open interface. I was intending to only use it for Beat Saber and passthrough type games to keep my face cooler.

But given my laziness, I've found myself not changing it back and forth for other games. And once you're playing, you don't notice (while at the same time it being very handy for looking out the side to see what's going on around you.

I've had the AMVR interface and it still feels very comfortable. Like a big squishy thing sat on your face......... which is nice!
If you're happy with the Globular Cluster form factor, then it maybe worth jusr buying some of the thicker memory foam interface pads from some of the well known retailers.

IMHO the Globular cluster unit is great if you play games on the headset with others, as its easy to switch the FI to suit different people so you arent all stood with each others sweat dripping down your face..
And the fact that you get several different fittings its good value for money..

However I play under a couple of spotlights to the light leakage killed it for me so I gave it to a mate, what it could benefit from is a small flap or something that sits over each section to block light..

Its a lot easier to adjust than the original which had 3 positions it would fit, the new one has dials on it so its a lot more, and easier, adjustable.
Depending on the size of your face, the only issue I have is a bit of light leakage round the sides of my eyes, but I've got a tiny head, you can tighten it against the face though with the dials, but then depending on the pad you use that can get hot/uncomfortable.

AMVR do a facial interfaces tor the Q2 which comes with side wedges. These fit under the edges of the face cushion to eliminate side light leakage. It seems a lot just for the side wedges but the face cushion would also probably work on the Quest 3

its been delivered so i just need topick it upon way home, and will give it a try tonight, i have a scheduled Demeo game with the guys.

So what's the verdict?? Did it make slaying dungeon monsters more comfortable? Did it make listening to Ravenger bang on about the Quest Pro more bearable??

i was going to do a bit of a review later tonight.

  1. slightly more comfortable, we played for 1 hour
  2. the adjustment dials worked and feel sterdy and a nice way to easily adjust the interface.
  3. little to no light leakage from top, some from rear,
  4. came attached with the nose light blocker (which i hadnt used previously) which is both nice and annoying as i often look through the gap at excersis bike timer or mobile phone screen ect. i think for now i'll leave it attachedd
  5. the facal interface like Trig said feels "big"? not quiet so snug. but does a good job staying were it was.
  6. the PU option was attached by default which is the one i intended to use for excersies reasons.
  7. i havent checked heat vents fully. but thinking on it i had no fogging top left corner which i have been happening recently, so looks to be a plus and working as intended.
  8. Note im still using the default strap as well.
  9. Note i wear glass and havent reordered my HonsVR lens after the last timei messed up. didnt have any issues getting my big frame glasses in and out of the interface.

work the cost? its a maybe at the moment, to a probable yes.
i have a work out scheduled tonight as we cant finish our demeo game untill people confirm next around. that'll be a good test of heat and sweat

thats about were i am with it.
tbh i was considering ordering the open interface one in addition or as an inplace of the AMVone as it gets hotter but will see how things go.
dont regret th puhcase just wish it was cheaper.

Thank you for the review :) I might put the purchase on hold for a while and see how you get on with it next time. If it's only going to be a small bit better than the stock foam, it's not worth it.

If you had said it made listening to Ravenger more bearable, it was going to be an insta buy for me :p

IF you have had the original, the adjuster dials are a game changer...
As I've said before, I've had a fair few FI's, including the Globular Cluster one which was very highly rated by others, yet the newer AMVR unit is my daily driver...
