I'm looking at "getting into" VR gaming after seeing a couple video clips of someone playing Swordsman VR which looked like great fun, but apart from 10 minutes on a Oculus Quest 2 about 4 years ago I've got no experience with VR.

I've set my sights on the Meta Quest 3 and if possible would like to connect to my PC as well, though not sure if the graphic card is supported yet as when I upgraded (with help of this forum) about a year ago I think the support for it wasn't great. My specs are :

- AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D Cache Eight Core 4.5GHz
- Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 32GB (2x16GB) 3600 MHz DDR4
- Sapphire Radeon RX 7900 XT Pulse 20GB GDDR6 PCI-Express

Will I able to connect the Quest 3 to that PC, either wireless or via cable and play games like that ?

Also still need to decide between the 128GB and 512GB version, if you game via the PC, are the games just installed on there, or will they take up space on the Quest as well ?

if your using it stricktly for the PC Streaming the 128.
but if your going to do mixed (and use the headset standaline) get the 512 is my suggestion.

you can stream your pc to the headset using good wifi, its not perfect but it does a good job, and can depend on the game.
you can also us it connected to a cable, thats an option. so both.
you often find sim racers conencted to cable for better quality and also they tend to be sitting fixed in position so its less of a problem.

a lot of people once they go wirelesss they dont go back, the freedom and worry free ness is a big plus.
the games will only be installed on quest if you purchased throught the meta store or manually installed from an unknown source.

in your senario i exepct your only streaming so the titles will be installed on the PC only, not taking up space.

theres number of people that do PC streaming that can better advise, and there is some discussion in here aswell.

are you a solo player or looking for social games is another factor possibly.

just the PC, think of the Quest as having its own mobile device built into the headset for its standalone apps but it can act as a display for PCVR as well

unfortunately the wired connection isn't a standard display port/interface its USB3 so you loose some quality no matter how you connect it, personally I think Meta engineered it that way deliberately because they want you to buy standalone apps from their store

MQ3 is a good jack of all trades choice, if you end up wanting more HQ then you need to look at the PCVR range of headsets which come at a cost

Just to add, your gpu will be fine for the Quest 3, nvidia is considered to be a bit better for several reasons but you'll be fine with that card. The Quest 3 is a great headset for vr beginners, there's none better imo, and very good anyway.

Thanks for the replies folks.

Is buying games for a Quest a bit like buying PC games of steam ? You can uninstall them (to create extra space) but still own them so can reinstall them whenever you want ?
