Quest 3 owners etc

Decided to take the hit and ordered the Meta elite strap with battery. Can’t deal with the fabric strap.

Will post my thoughts when it arrives! If it’s anything less than perfect it’ll be going back though as I expect god tier comfort and decent build quality for the price Meta are asking!

Worst case i have 30 days to try it and can send it back in the event of issues and/or if a better looking/cheaper third party option appears!
Really pleased with mine, much more comfortable than the stock strap :)

I’m playing without the face interface at the moment and what a relief. :)

I received mine today ordered off the back of your suggestion. Really pleased with it and very comfy, good fit and finish, also so easy to adjust for different users compared to the standard strap (as my son seems to use the Q3 more than I do!).

I would have felt absolutely robbed if i'd bought the official Elite strap for over twice the price, so thanks.

Edit: I've also bought a 3rd party brand case (Syntech) for the Quest 3, and the medium size fits the Q3 and this strap great and also very well built. Under a 1/3 of the price of the official offering. Looking back at my purchase history I bought the official Quest 1 case in 2020 for £39.99 which was the RRP, have we really had 75% inflation in the intervening 3 odd years (Q3 official case RRP £69.99). The actual hardware may be great value but the accessories not in the slightest, I'm so glad that choice exists.

Glad you like it. I've worn mine for a couple of hours at a time and find it really comfy, can hardly tell it's on.

Well my 3rd headsets arrived, and so far I've not found any dead pixels.

but my word, after 5mins my forehead is red raw! Not comfortable at all
I also found that tightening the side straps causes the tilt adjustment to rotate it more towards my forehead, I loosened the side straps and tilted the quest 3 forwards so it was more balanced across my face, until the elite strap turned up and that is far better, but still needs to ensure the correct 'tilt' adjustment..

My brother didn't even know you can tilt the Quest 2, he was complaining for 3 weeks until I showed him, he felt properly stupid!

Just tried this in ams2 and iam blown away by the clarity. Even with super sampling in game set to 1.0 its super clear even in the far distance. This is wired btw.

As everyone seems to be getting their strap on, I have an HTC VIVE Deluxe Audio Strap on my Quest 2 which needed some custom printed adapters. If some reputable adapters become available for the Quest 3 at a sensible price I will probably transplant it.

So are there any cables that will charge Quest 3 while PCVR, all I have seen so far is that the official cable will charge but not fast enough so the headset will slowly lose batterly charge?
For stanalone I have tried this morning a big power bank which I have had for a number of years now which I have put into my pocket, this seems to be charing but not fast enoguh so the headset slowly loses it's charge, better than nothing.

i am not answering your question (sorry) but just a thought...............how slow is slow? i mean if you get 2.5hrs out of it wireless, and if even discharging slowly you get 5 hrs , then maybe it isnt worth worrying about.

are you really likely to do more than a 5hr stint without having a food break or something (at which point you can properly charge).

standalone will hit the battery harder as it is also powering that - fast but thirsty - standalone processor.

Actually PCVR hits it hard, the processor is having to work hard decoding the information.

Thing is I don't want to use VD or Airlink but the cable as my router isn't fast enough. And I haven't got the official cable yet as it is very expensive. I guess I will just play for about 2h If I decide to play some of the PCVR exclusives.

i dont have the official cable either, it is a 5m one from rainforest. (i read the reviews and various people with a quest 2 said it worked). it has given me no issues.

i cant tell you how long it will last however as i have not done a long enough stint (also i have a quest pro not a quest 3). the £100 official one may be nice but its too pricey for me, i think mine was around £25
