Quest 3 owners etc

Question to owners. Could you try just
spamming the triggers on your left and right controllers, and then extending your index fingers out in a pointing motion? Doing this sometimes causes my index finger tracking to be slightly curved, like as if my actual finger is bent.

It’s an odd request, but would help me determine if this is a hardware or software bug.
Hey

Just wondering if someone would be willing to try this for me? I’m in touch with meta about a possible replacement, but that is my absolute last resort.

I’m guessing the Quest 3 file system is still 32-bit as it won’t allow me to copy video files larger than 4gb onto the device ?

Is that correct or am I doing something wrong when copying the file over USB?

I always just steamed video/movies over Wi-Fi before as I only had the 64gb Quest 2 but I’d hoped to store large 4K/3D videos on the device to use when travelling now I have the 512gb model!

I've copied 16gb movies onto my Q2 and Pro, so i think something is wrong there.

i found a few threads on Reddit which said others had experienced this issue so assumed it was a general problem?

When copying files do you just connect to a PC over USB then mount the file system of the device? Do you need to set permissions or copy the video into a specific folder?

It seems to let me start copying the file and it gets to the end but the file itself isn’t there when it completes the copy as described in the Reddit article ? Smaller files under 4gb seem to work ok?

Possibly a Q3 issue then. On the Pro I just connect via USB and drag the file into a movies folder on the headset. I have very large high quality 3D versions of Avatar 1 & 2 that I've had no problems copying across. I'll have to try it with the most recent PTC to make sure they haven't borked it.

Hmm. Looking at that thead it could be a widespread issue. I'll try copying across a large file tonight. I'm on V59 on the public test channel on the Pro.

It seems to be a problem with an update. I highly doubt it's a filesystem problem.

Did you try one of the suggestions in that thread to change the file extension from whatever it is now (.avi, .mp4, .mpg, .mkv etc) to .txt before copying, then change it back when you have copied it over?

They were mate, I had an eye test, got home and straight away uploaded the photo and they auto completed what it was I needed.
Thanks I did order some from Vr-Rock yesterday but prefer the style of the ones from Zenni, I will wait and see what the Vr-Rock ones are like when they arrive.

No, haven’t retired renaming but it seems very mixed in the replies whether it fixes the problem. Folk on there claiming all sorts of weird work around allegedly fix it and then folk replying to say it didn’t!

I’ll give it a try the next time I’m on my Quest though!

So I’m not sure if my 2nd elite strap has an issue or working as intended.

It works fine when connected to the headset, however when charging the battery only it will charge the headset fine, when I press the power button to see the charge it will be like 100% headset and doesn’t show the battery. I need to reconnect the battery for it to show and the battery pack won’t even be full, I left it all in overnight and it was at 71% once reconnected.

I did buy the docking charger as well but that seems so hot and miss if it charges the battery and the headset so it seems pointless keeping it.

Edit - it seems like my quest 3 elite battery won’t charge above 70%.

smaller files under 4gb work ok? doesnt that sound like a FAT 32/exFAT file size limitation problem?

does anyone know what format the quest headsets use?

(I cant even get that far because whilst my link cable (at the moment) is working just fine, my pc cant see the quest as a storage so i cant copy files over, and there is no option under developer options to allow usb detection either.)

edit i just did some checkign and the quest 2 is indeed fat32 so your file size limit is 4gb.... which unfortunately will rule out some 4k video files........ those will have to be streamed from a pc.

Which is weird because previously I've copied 16gb movie files across. I thought it used exFAT which supports huge files.

genuinely i do not know, i am just going on a support ticket google bought up where an oculus/meta support staff stated it was FAT32.

edit here you go

that said, i am absolutely not doubting you. IME meta support are not........ shall we say, quite as good as they need to be imo given my chats i have had with them.

Does it need to be on the headset? If you have the option of streaming from your PC instead, take a look at Play'a VR Video Player and DeoVR on Steam.

streaming from pc works fine and indeed is what i have been doing. it isnt really a solution however as its a complete waste of electricity running my pc, and not to mention means i cant use it to stream unless within range of my pc.
Dont get me wrong, i appreciate the suggestion but it is utterly nonsense that i should have to either sign up to a developer account (having to lie) OR severely limit the functionality of my headset just because i cant plug in the headset to my pc and drag files onto it.

reading some of the support threads on the meta forums going on for 6 months............ shame on them imo.
