Meta is rolling out an update that boots you into HW as soon as you start the headset. Some users on the meta forums have already had it forced on them.

They try so hard with HW yet afaik it's still generally disliked, I guess folks don't like something being forced on them..

theres stuff they could do with it like set a custom HW location/world for you to start in but have an option to disable it as well.

set a default room so your mates join the same is nice way to organise a quick game, catch up/chat ect, an easy central point for groups of known people. i see many of the peeps online regularly but they're doing their own thing.

Dropping a portal to a game in HW for others to join up games easily instead of sending room codes or invites (its just another method not a replacement method). i.e. i do a social multi player of DOE any one in the group ould randomly join easily.

but honestly there are days were i want to be left alone with out any pressures.

the key thing, and they do this all the time they are making changes with out consultation or options, beleiving they know best.

A lot of business think they know what you want, Microsoft put in lots of stuff I will never ever use, Facebook keeps making suggestions, my phone also pesters me unfortunately I cant see this ever changing.

if meta continue this route, i only went back to Meta, because of you guys, if you all ditched meta headsets for deckard for example, i will too

So I updated to the latest version today 77.1something. No problems with Link(wired or Wireless) and Horizons isn't loading on start up. Powered off and on the headset a few times as well just to check.

I'm just waiting to see how good Deckard is now. I could get a BSB2 as I have the base stations and controllers but want to wait to see what Valve has come up with first.

I am absolutely ready to ditch Meta for PCVR as I am just worried every time I boot my Quest Pro (which is by far the all-round best PC VR headset I've tried so far) that Meta are going to brick it or break it or the controllers.

And worse if they do that they will take no responsibility for fixing it or replacing it, so I'd be £1500 out of pocket.

likelyhood is i'd just stream to the quest on a private network from a PC, before this comes the norm before switching to something else.
theres differant ways to approach it, and im not going to worry about it to much. just yet.
im still hoping for a new pc this year, other personal issues not with standing.
like everyone else im waiting to see about Deckard, and slowly building up my VR library.

Im sure i was on 77 last week. No problems so far either
Meta have differan test rings, and they dont advertise whos on what, so its quiet possible your not in that group and others are.

I am not on the Public Test Channels. I only update when an update is due on my device.

Public Test Channels are exactly what they sound like. If you opt in, you are going to have problems from time to time.

The big issue is that users on the PTC have been reporting bugs back to Meta, who don't fix them and then push out the bugged update onto the main update channel. This happened with the Wifi issues on Quest Pro.
