In 3 short months I'm moving back to NZ after a much enjoyable 8 years in the UK. In my time here I have accumulated a number of possessions, some of which will not be making the journey down-under with me. One of these is my Xbox 360 - I figure that most of my entertainment equipment will fetch a decent price here, allowing me to upgrade when I'm settled in (that - and I'm a lazy ******* who can't be bothered packing it all up).

So - to get to the point - I've a number of XBLA games that I have purchased, along with various saved games that I'd like to revisit at some point. Are these titles tied to the HDD or the console hardware? If I keep the Xbox HDD can I stick it on my replacement console and continue gaming as if I mearly went on a short sabbatical?

The games are tied to your Xbox Live account, so you can play them on another Xbox.

They are tied somehow to your current Xbox as well, but there is a way of installing them on a new Xbox, but not 100% sure on the full details.

They're tied to your gamercard i believe. So once you get a new console and recover your gamertag you should be able to redownload everything. If you take the HDD with you then your gamertag will be on there with all the stuff you've downloaded.

However live arcade games are tied to your console as well. So if you change console you have to be online and signed into your live account to play them.

I believe XBLA games are tied to the GT, once you install the hard disk on the new console you'll still access your content.

If your still worried, boot it on a friends box and see.
