Hey i just had a question burning on my mind.

I bought my 360 from an ex-friend about 5months ago as he didnt really play it much and wanted to sell, but i stupidly didnt get the receipt!

So what if my 360 was to break now?Say there was no chance i could contact and get the receipt off him as we have lost contact, would i be totally screwed and have to sell my games etc :( (cant afford a new 360), or would i be able to have it repaired?

I think he got it from game.

You have a 12 month warranty, on the 360 with Microsoft, so if it goes wrong in that period, they will sort it all for you, and don't ask for proof of purchase I do not think, after the 12 months is up, you're on your own like everybody else, I *think*, sure somebody like VIRII can confirm/deny this though.

Did you ex-friend register it at all? If he did then MS won't deal with you.

This happened to a colleague who sold his to another guy in my office before leaving the company. A month or so later it then displayed the 3 red lights and MS would not support it as his details did not match the ones on their system!!

I registered mine with MS when I set up my Live! account online.

You may be able to buy the 2 year extended warranty that comes with the 360 and might be in the box. These are £55 if I remember correctly.
