If a power supply of 300w - 350w have a 6 pin for graphics, what would be the typical cap on what it could supply? Ie is anything over 120w total pushing it even with the lowest of powered processors?

While the 80 plus bronze delta in my Packard bell is good for what it is, being a cheap 300w is doesn't have a 6 pin, hell its only got 1 molex and couple sata and as such need the use of molex to molex and molex to 6 pin(works but not practical) so thinking of swapping it out to make life easier, just don't need it to be that powerful but have a 6 pin.

Thanks for reply. Handy to know there is a sort of cap on the pin.

I don't have a graphics card in mind, just handy to have the 6 pin if I get a card with a 6 pin that isn't a power house, for example I was given an old dell branded nvidia card(7500le I think) that looks a beast of a card for what it likely be, but has a 6 pin so I will need to use couple adapters and given this 300w delta was meant for resale I don't want to limit myself to a 7750 as the cheapest modern card to run(not that I've owned one) off the pcie slot.

Mean if I find a 400w plus for a good price then yeah I'd get it so no question in limitations like a HX450 professional series I'm currently enquiring about for like £20.

thanks for reply.

tbh the only reason i got the 7500(if it is actually that) is because i sold my r7 240 and the guy gave me that graphics card for nothing, the computer is only going to be used for old games, but wanted a card with more than 64mb vram(6200le) and this dell brand suppose to have 256 plus it was free.

oh yeah i know about what to look for to an extent when it comes to compatibility for power hence what i have in my sig, just how much a 6 pin offers is something i wasnt too sure about as i read a lot of mix views and when it comes to old graphic cards i dont know if they still live up to their original power ie a 180w card now weak to only need 130w lol if even possible.

Thanks for reply.

Oh yeah it's a big downgrade, but I didn't get rid of that card for this obsolete one, I was given a old vista Inspiron 1545 but without charger so need to buy one. The guy just asked if I was interested before he chucked it and thought why not, can't be worse than my 6200le 64mb with turbo surely.

I've got a 7900gs, came with a computer I sold weeks ago, sadly while it runs it gives red blocks all over the screen and writing has lines only an artist would draw even after paste change so gonna have to bin it, would get too annoying.

Games I will play again are just ones like zoo tycoon and the rest, theme hospital, sim city, games from my origin vault that were designed for xp era, wow before it came 3D open world, gta 3, doom 3 and various others I can't remember without looking.

Game id love to play is syndicate wars, was awesome as a kid, like. Win 98 game lol

quick update:

had to put the dell brand card in my haswell due to ram issues and just installed driver and it actually comes up as a 7800gtx with 256mb gddr3 vram and not the 7500le the guy originally showed me a pic of(was a page with nvidia logo and 7500 next to it), still a dx9 card, but better than we thought and would explain why it has a 6 pin connector.

so in the end its a keeper :D till i change out the motherboard as off the top of my head i dont have any dx10 required games that id be playing on it.
