Hi,

Just got my payslip today from work and I'm not too sure on the deductions that have been made. In short I got about double my usual pay due to work having to catch up paying me (their fault with being slow with the required paperwork). So fair enough when I see that I have paid more tax and national insurance than usual, thats to be expected. I then noticed the biggest deduction made was a line called 'Advance'.

I have never seen that before on my payslip and neither had any of the managers. I am just wondering whether anyone could shed any light on what it might be before I ring up payroll about it tomorrow.

An 'advance' to me would be you've asked already for cash / pay during the month to be paid early..

Have they ever paid you out of petty cash before or given you money before your actual pay day ?

Nope, they gave me nothing to tide me over, even though my pay that month was less than half it usually was. I wasn't happy but fortunately I don't have rent etc needing to be paid.

No internal buying also, done nothing out of the ordinary. I've not asked for any cash too.
