Question about adding fans to my PC

Hi all,

I've just ordered the Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 ARGB 3 in 1 Black Edition Fans to add some airflow to my PC case. To be honest, I don't really care about RGB lighting in my components so, is it just a case of daisy chaining the fans together using the 4-Pin PWM connectors and then plugging the end connection into one of my SYS-FAN headers on my motherboard?

EDIT: I also ordered a Kolink 1-3 PWM Braided Splitter Cable to (hopefully) make the daisy-chaining straightforward

Why'd you spend £40 then lol. you can get a 3-pack of good quality PWM fans for under £11! Google: Thermalright TL-C12C X3

but have no clue what the actual maximum limit would be.
You'd need to check the power rating on each fan header
In general most boards will have a 1 amp header, higher-end boards will have 2 amps...if it doesn't say then i'd assume it's a 1 amp header for safety reasons (ie you don't want to burn out the header)
Most fans will have a start up current of about 0.3 amps and a constant draw current of 0.2 amps, unless they're high performance fans...in which case, these fans can go up to 0.5 amps from what i've seen

TL;DR - I wouldn't daisy chain more than 3 (or 4 at a big push) fans to a single 1 amp fan header

Yep, if you want them all to run at the same speeds as each other. I think the most I have done is 4 fans from a single header, but have no clue what the actual maximum limit would be.
Thanks vey much. I was doing a bit of reading there and according to the literature, my motherboard's (Gigabyte B550 Gaming X V2) SYS_FAN headers support a 2amp draw which is fine, because according to the Cooler Master site, those fans draw 0.15A each.

Being the fickle type that I am, I think I'm just about to fall down the RGB rabbit hole with my PC.

So, say I wanted to hook my Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 ARGB 3 in 1 Black Edition Fans up to an RGB supply, do I need to use the supplied controller that comes in the box (which plugs into a SATA socket in my PSU), or can I just daisy chain them together and plug them into one of the RGB strip headers on my motherboard?

Also, I still need to keep the fans hooked up to the PWM supply so that they actually run, is that right? The RGB part of the system only supplies the lighting side?

That's correct.

No you do not need to use the supplied controller as long as the fans come with standard argb headers. If they do, then you can use a splitter or daisy chain them to the motherboard argb header
