Question about ATX2.0 PSU's

I currently have an Asus P5P800 motherboard and an LGA775 Pentium 4 CPU. My PSU is getting quite loud (generic unfortunately) and like the look of the FSP Sparkle 600W. Will it work with my system? I thought ATX2.0 was for pci-express systems only. If it will work then I can move it to my new conroe rig when it's available.

Also, is the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro any good for LGA775 CPU's? Does anyone know if it will be compatible with Conroe's?

Yes the PSU will work with your current motherboard, you may need to get an adapter to go from 24-20pins if that is what your motherboard needs or you might find that you can disconnect 4 of the 24pins. Either way it isn't a major problem. :)

As to the second question I'm sorry but I don't have a clue about the Arctic Freezer 7.

Excellent, mine keeps my 805 @ 3.7ghz at 33c idle (1600rpm) and 46c both cores 100% load (2200rpm). 14c lower than stock and quieter.

Should fit conroe, they use the same 775 fitting as the current CPUs.

I think he meant this one ;)

Yes I did, thanks guys. There's a 24 pin connected to my mother board and my current PSU only connects to 20 of those 24, will I still need the adapter?

Hey it was my bad, not yours ;) <non PRO

All modern PSU have a 24 pin plug, but the last 4 pins are removable like this.

No idea whether you would need it or not.

Then no you won't need the adapter, it acts as a step-down of sorts for older ATX motherboards up to about ATX v1.3. The new PSU may even provide you more stable power as you will now fill all required pins for your motherboard :)
