Hey guys, Its been a long time since I have pre-ordered a game, but I have found myself with the 1st of September off work, which is the release day of the new metal gear solid.

I live very close to a game, so my question is, is the game likely to be in stock for me to pick up that morning, or would I need to pre order it to be safe?

Oh, and can I pre order to pickup from the store? so I don't have to wait for the mail man.

I honestly can't see them selling out so you could walk in on day one and pick it up. For piece of mind, it never hurts to pre order.

I held off on pre-ordering Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate when it released this year and waited for it's review which had a suspiciously late embargo. Reviews came out and it was all good so I ordered (not pre-ordered) the game online on the day of release, since I was unable to get into town to get it myself. Despite not opting for next day delivery, the game arrived the next morning, shockingly with the pre-order bonus included. I guess they had an excess of those, since the pre-order bonus was just some ****** case thing that I ended up using as a mousemat.

My recommendation, just pre-order online if you're desperate. Pre-order after the reviews and you should be fine. If you want a collector's edition, then go for it sooner. I know the PS4 Collector's Edition is sold out in a lot of places.

I never had trouble going into the shops and buying a game on release day. They make so many of the regular edition it is highly unusual to be sold out everywhere. Tesco, ASDA, GAME, all kinds of places sells them now. Unless it is some special limited edition that you are after or have some kind of discount code then I don't bother pre-ordering.
