Hello everyone and thank you in advance for your help.

We have a compressor in our lab that uses a 3 phase 220V power source and the power cable wires are fitted with ring tongue lug compression terminals which connect to the machine via screws.

The wire is crimped and held in place to the connector, but there is still a lot of space in between, not to mention some extra frayed wire sticking out. Is it OK to use regular tin solder to "fill in the gaps" between the wire and the crimping? My intuition says it should be ok but just wondering.

Are the fittings loose or causing problems? If not leave them alone!!

If you're having problems cut off the old connector, strip the wire and crimp on a new one, you don't need to solder them.

Awesome pic.

Does your system really still run on that (I'm assuming a legacy machine in a lab somewhere?)

My guess is they did a Google image search for "Windows 3.1 Paint", grabbed the second result and photoshopped it. (Cursor position and background are consistent although an additional desktop icon has also been shopped out)

That spotty bar at the bottom makes my eyes go funny.

415v Shirley (unless your measuring poles to earth)

My eyes go funny:confused:
