DirectX, Windows Visual C++ (2005, 2008?), Microsoft Games for Windows Live, etc

Everytime I install a game it seems to automatically install these things, even though they are already installed.

My question is, does it cause problems having these things installed over and over again? I think running DirectX checks to see if anything needs updating but not sure about Windows Visual C++. For example, on my computer it says the following are installed:

Are these all needed?

Maybe a little paranoid, but it seems a little odd.

i get all that stuff too when installing games, best to leave them on there they dont take up much space and do no harm :)

Why would it do any harm? A very little annoying when youve got about 6 listed in your change/remove programs list but except for that does no harm.

You could remove them all and install the latest runtimes... but tbh I'd leave it as the games are happy and its not usually a compatibility issue.

Microsoft like to play games, youll find some older files are not included with the latest redistributables. As a result multiple redistributables get installed. Thats the case with directx anyway.
