Hi guys, I've got a question regarding dual booting Windows 7 and Windows XP on my PC. As I'm a student, I can get Windows 7 cheaply by buying upgrade editions like these, which require a pre-existing Windows installation. So, I bought a cheap copy of XP Professional to install first, and then a 7 upgrade disk.

What I was wondering is if after I've upgraded the OS from XP to 7, will I be able to install XP back on to the PC using the same product key? The upgrade copy of 7 does come with its own product key, but does the upgrading process void the XP license?

Thanks,
Cam

Ok, thanks for letting me know. I did think that would be the case, but I couldn't help but ask to see if I could save myself some trouble :)

Thought I'd bump this rather than create a new thread as this is along a similar topic.

I want to run both Windows 7 and XP, and at the moment I have XP installing, which I will then upgrade to 7 using an upgrade disk, but I was wondering what is the actual process for installing a second OS, especially if I'm using an upgrade? Is it just a matter of installing 7 (well, XP then upgrading to 7) and then installing XP afterwards, or is it more complicated than that? Do the 2 installations have to be on different partitions/hard drives or on the same one?

If it matters, I have an SSD for my boot disk and an HDD for storage.

Sorry for the nooby questions, it's the first time I've tried running dual OSs :o

Thanks,
Cam
