question about duel graphics

ok thanks a lot but whats the point in dual graphics if they dont run together???

is there anything i could do to make them run smoother? or would just updating catalyst drivers the best way

So you have dual graphics "6690D2"?

What do you want to achieve? better/higher frame rates? are you asking too much of it and trying to play the latest games at very high resolutions and detail settings?

If you mean AMD Dual Graphics, then they do run together. But only for DX10+ stuff. You can install the CAPs to help with stuttering but if you want to improve performance then you will need to overclock both of them.

i does not actually come up saying 6690D but it defiantly is working since in battlefield 3 both gpus get max load and gpu z says 2 gpu enabled

i remember reading that only oem machines read 6690D somewhere

that was what i was asking. would they perform better if i overclock them both at say 900mhz since that is the max the hd6670 can overclock in afterburner (since i cannot overclock the 6670 in ccc as when dual graphics is enabled it does not allow you to:() or would it not matter if one runs slightly faster than the other?

If it's for BF3 then it's a lot to ask for the 6690D2, BF3 is a pretty GPU intensive game. But for now I suggest installing these if you haven't already done so: http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/pages/crossfirex-app-profiles.aspx

I found it helped a lot for my Llano Dual graphics laptop.

It's hybrid crossfire, so it doesn't matter if they're not running on the same speed. Just try see what's the best stable overclock you can get with both of them. But don't ramp it up to the max straight away, you can damage the chip like that. Do it 10mhz at a time.

i have found as long as anti aliasing is off battlefield runs pretty good with everything on medium and textures on ultra. at my native resolution of 1280 x 1024

i was just intersted in how they would perform the best together or if it mattered at all whether one was performing faster than the other.

thanks a lot for the link by the way i hope this helps :D

currently i have the igp running at 847 and the gpu at 847 and it is like a world of difference compared to 600 and 800 since there is no stutter/lag at all

That actually sounds pretty good to be running BF3 at that res and settings "smoothly" with that setup.

ok i had a quick ten mins on a 64 player game

lowest fps 38
highest 61
but it sat around 45 most of the time.

i do understand i should have done a longer test but hey when i play for hours on end it still runs what i would call smooth

im guessing i wont get much more out of this without a new gpu?

which is not a problem at all as the whole point of this pc was just get at least console graphics playing the latest games as my previous pc burnt out and my ps3 blueray drive died and this seems the most cost effective way to game and have a pc

i might get away with a little bit more overclocking within the temps but i do see up to 58 degrees as i am only using a stock cooler from a phenom 9500 cause the stock llano cooler looks like a toy and gave me temps of 74 degrees at 3.4 ghz and 800mhz on the gpu and were not much better at stock clock speeds lol
