How come in stores, markets and on farms you see all range of poultry eggs for sale, Chicken, Duck, Geese etc...

But how come you never see Turkey eggs for sale?

Genuinely curious.

Is there a reason for this? Do they not lay often? Are all the eggs fertile and there is more money in letting the bird sit on them and then having the meat or is there just simply absolutely no demand for them?

I've had one of these not long ago, very similar to duck eggs.

Oh awesome! Waitrose are going to stock rhea eggs, will definitely get one of these to try!

Bah, we should move away fro meating turkey for crimbo anyway. It's shockingly awful. Give me a leg of lamb and a fine cut of beef instead anyday.

Curious to know what a turkey egg tastes like though. Go to norfolk and steal one from the late Mr Matthews estate.

Turkey thigh is lovely stuff, kind of prefer it to chicken in most cases. The breast meat is pretty poor though. Beyond tradition there is little reason to eat turkey at christmas. Whenever you hear people talking about their voodoo tricks to keep turkey moist and tasty it always seems a little mad to have to put so much effort into something to make it taste acceptable rather than exceptional.
