Yo photo geeks.

Here's one for you,

Say I am photographing a PC case with my DX camera with a 50mm 1.8G lens.

Using this I am almost across the room (say approximately 5ft away) with my back against the wall trying to get the whole case into frame without cutting the top or bottom of it off etc.

How much closer or how far away from the case could i be to still have the same size image in the camera frame using say,

35mm
18-24mm

I would rather be 2-3ft way that way I can still sit in my chair and use the tripod.

Ignore degrees just input lens focal length, subject distance and select option 3 which is 1.5. Crop factor. At 50mm an object 2.4 feet wide and 1.6 foot high at five foot away will fill the frame.

35mm at 3 foot is 2.07 feet by 1.37 so not enough.

18-24mm would give you 3 to 4 foot wide and two foot to 2.67 feet high from 3 feet away so perfect.
