Hi Guys.

Other than price. What difference would it make with FPS

GPU 800Mhz or 900 Mhz

Heres an example

3GB Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 Windforce 3X, 28nm, 5000MHz GDDR5, GPU 900MHz,
or
3GB XFX Radeon HD 7950 DD, 28nm, 5000MHz GDDR5, GPU 800MHz,

There would be a little bit of difference in fps but to be honest other than in benchmark scores I doubt you would notice.

Plus you can always overclock the slower card anyway.

Hardly any difference I would have thought as the previous poster has said, you could always overclock GPU core anyway, so you really aren't missing out on anything.

But I will counter that by saying that 12% can easily be overcome by overclocking. The 79 series gpu's have got massive overclocking headroom, some up to 40%

Plus the silicon lottery means there is every chance the 800mhz gpu could potentially overclock better than the 900mhz version, especially if the cooler is significantly better.

Go for the Gigabyte instead of XFX.

Gigabyte's custom PCB with their Windforce X3 series cards are generally better than reference PCB, whereas XFX's custom PCB generally cut corner and are worse than the reference PCB.

Also, in terms of warranty Gigabyte got a UK base with quick turn around time for rma and 3 years warranty, whereas XFX got 2 years next to non-existing warranty service, as they don't deal with consumers directly. Even big retailer such as OcUK has stop stocking XFX graphic cards, as their support and service is a complete joke. With even big company such as OcUK struggle to rma with XFX, average consumers don't stand a chance.
