Are 8800 gtx's merely the same as 8800 gts except the video memory and clock speed? so in effect a 640mb gts say clocked to 625/1800 will be virtually on a par with a standard 575/1800 gtx? apart from at 1900 res and above with aa af.never mind yes they do come close if overclocked high.

No.
GTS cards have 96 pipes, GTX cards have 128.
Ultra's are clocked GTX's, there is however a physical difference between the GTS and GTX other than clock speeds.

I googled it it does keep up with a stock 8800 gtx if you clock it to 650/2000.

Yes i know but it comes quite close closer than i thought but it's mainly cpu dependant games also.
i was thinking of upgrading to a gtx but don't think i can pay £130 for an extra 40fps or whatever the gap is.

Seriously consider the OcUK branded GTX at £291inc
A no thrills name but it does exactly what it says on the tin.

all the stock gtx's are the same with diffrent stickers so the ocuk one is the same as any other non overclocked one, my gtx does 692/2200

you basically paying for brand name on stock gtx's, but with brand name comes warranty and quality of service..

and paul_64|: damn nice clocks
