Hi,

I just bought a HD 2400XT for my works PC, and im just a little confused about the spec that its supposed to have and the sockets on the back of the card. This is the card here

The Specs are

- ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro Core running at 700MHz
- 256MB DDR2 Memory running at 1400MHz
- 40 Stream Processors
- 64-Bit Memory Interface
- Full-featured DirectX® 10 Support with ShaderModel 4.0
- CrossFire™
- Full-speed UVD (Blu-ray and HD-DVD)
- Non-visual game computing enhancements
- Integrated HDMI – One-cable video and audio with no compromises
- No data compression no conversion = no loss in quality
- Extreme data rates – up to 5GB/sec!
- Integrated HDCP over Dual Link DVI
- All this is included on the board – get HD features for free!
- Ultimate Windows® Vista™ Experience
- 65nm process – low power consumption
- Support for high speed GDDR4 memory
- Support for the Windows Aero™ 3D interface
- Remarkable combination of DirectX® 10 performance and HD 1080p video/media
- Multi-monitor support

Iv highlighted the confusing bit, now I took this as meaning it would have an HDMI socket on the back of the card, but all it has is DVI, VGA & SVHS

Am I missing the point or is the spec wrong?

I am glad you have asked this as I have been thinking the same thing. I think you need to buy an adaptor (either DVI to HDMI) or the ATI version at that also caries audio. It is a bit misleading...

you will need a DVI to HDMI adaptor, even my HD2900XT needs one if i was to use HDMI. all ati cards capable of HDMI need one i think, but not all come with one

You need the dvi-hdmi adapter unfortunately.

If you click on the image on the ocuk site you linked to you can see that there's just a vga, dvi and breakout socket so the dvi adapter is needed.

My 2900XT and 3850pro were the same.

Surely if it has a DVI socket then it will not carry audio?
You will get picture from DVI -> HDMI but i doubt you will get any audio.

The card is capable of HDMI out but it is up to the manufacturer of the card what sockets they accommodate, that list just seems to state what the chip is capable of really. AFAIK quite a few ATi cards do come with a HDMI socket.

If it is advertised as having integrated HDMI and you didnt get one, i would be sending it back.

I bought the Sapphire 2400XT which did come with the DVI-HDMI adapter. Works very nicely too as it happens :)

pfft lucky you my his 2400xt didnt come with one either :(

its a very good point about the sound though, DVI is video only isnt it, so surely the tech specs of the card are wrong and missleading?

Technically the card is not fit for purpose, there is no way it can send audio & video through HDMI.

Iv sent a web note to OCUK to clarify.
