Question about heatsink

I have an ASUS 7600GS silent, it has an overhanging heatsink like this one:-





My Question is, and the answer is probably NO, but can i cut about a 1inch square piece from this as it is interfearing with the PSU in a small form factor case.

Of course you can, but your temperatures are going to suffer, and they're probably quite high already with a passive heatsink...

The 7600GS uses very little power and was one of the coolest running cards around a few years ago. So even with a modified heatsink you'd think it would be ok.

I've got a passively cooled 7600GS, and it gets pretty hot to the touch. Depends how hot it runs for the OP really...

well it does run a little hot, but not that bad imo.

The piece id like to cut off is just under an inch so i dont think it wouls uffer that much.
