Question about job application and agencies.

I applied for an IT job via an agency, they gave me an address asking me if I could get to it. A quick google map search gave me the name of the actual company offering the job and their website which accepts job vacancy applications.

Is it in my interest to go over the agencies head and apply directly to the company?

I'd be temped to call the company, have a chat with their HR person and see what they say - explain that you were researching the company prior to your interview and saw they accepted applications directly so wanted to give them the option.

Not job related but I do this with Groupon every now and then - I know from chatting to business owners etc that they take a hefty chunk when companies offer discounted deals through them so I'll sometimes call the company up, mention that they are on Groupon and see if they will match or better the published Groupon deal - normally they are happy to do so as they make more money that way!
