Do employers ever ask to see proof of qualifications? I'm asking this because I have lost just about every GCSE and College certificate I have ever achieved.

My last job did, first time I have ever been asked to prove them though. All candidates had to take original certificates along to the 2nd interview with them. You should be able to apply to the qualification peeps to get copies of them.

I just costs a fair bit though, wondered if I could get away with it.

Like I said I've only been asked once, fact is you're meant to look after your certificates and provide them as proof if asked. I doubt many employers would take qualifications on trust, if it's close between you and another person and they can produce proof they'll get the job.

Don't think of it as a cost, think of it as an investment.

I've never been asked to proove my GCSE's.
I was asked to show my BTEC National certificate which I obviously kept anyway.
I've also been asked to show my various Microsoft & Novell certificates too.
As you go on in your career your older qualifications seem to mean less and less.
Don't even mention GCSE's these days as they were so long ago...

My housemate has just had to post away all of his certificates, including the music grades he got!

Clearly, some do ask!
