Im in the middle of an upgrade from skt 478 to 775 and ive got an akasa nero cpu cooler and also an intel stock cooler. I noticed that when trying to fit any of the coolers on, it requires condiderable force to get the pins in properly. Is this normal?

The first pin is easy but the one diagonal from the first it is quite hard to push in.

Yep, they can be a bit of a struggle to get in the first few times, ive found that installing them before putting the motherboard in was the best way as your able to make sure the pins are pushed through properly.

do them in this order

1-middle of the mobo ram side
2-next to the mobo 4/8 pin connector
3- middle of the mobo I/O plate side
4-the remaining one

:D

I put 3 pieces of wood under the motherboard (directly under the cooler) when fitting the cooler to give it less chance of cracking.

I hate intels stock deign, pain in the ass particularly if you have a big cooler

1/Rip out the push pins
2/Replace with four 20mm M4 bolts, 4 steel washers, 8 silicone washers and 4 M4 nuts
3/Rejoice
