Question about missed calls on O2

Just to satisfy my curiosity, I'd be grateful for the answer to this. I called somebody on O2 earlier, at a time we arranged, and his phone was off. A little while later he sent a text saying his battery was dead and so he doesn't know if I called or not.

My first reaction was 'lying git, he must have had a missed call message flash up when he turned on the phone', but then I started wondering if that's the case...?

Thanks. :)

The SMS alert you get that says you had a missed call from someone, is not a standard feature and in some cases you may need to activate it in order to receive them.

So, if that feature is not enabled in his SIM card, then he may genuinely not had any alert as to the missed call. Naturally, if your phone is off then your phone itself will not tell you that you had a missed call - the only way to know is the SMS as above.

i have had people call me, but by the time i can get to the phone to answer it they rang off. yet i recive no missed call text message

No its not standard on o2 , least not for me as i never get texts saying ive missed a call. If they leave a message then i get a text to say so but if not then i get nowt.

On other networks, you can have both Voicemail and the SMS alert switched on simultaneuosly, but on O2 it seems that it's a choice between the two - there doesn't seem to be a way of using both at the same time. Arghh!
