I know this may sound odd but can the size of monitor affect gameplay and FPS ect? Because ive tried my PC on a more large TV and it ran smooth on almost every game with no stutter or nothing! But then i change back to my Monitor (22-24~ i think) and now im experiencing Stuttering FPS drop and poor game play!

I know my Card is not best and im upgrading on sunday but i just wanted to clear this and find out whether im mad or not.

It's more the resolution rather than the size of the monitor, and yes resolution does make a difference, a big difference in some cases.

its note "more" resolution rather than size, its 100% resolution rather than size

+1

For example if you were using a "HD Ready" or "720p" TV (native resolution 1366x768) then you would get much better gaming performance compared to playing on a much smaller (but higher resolution) 22-24in monitor - which usually have a native resolution of 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 (ie around twice as many pixels to drive compared to a 720p TV).

In this situation you would expect your TV to provide around twice as many frames per second than a 1080p/1200p monitor - the size of the panel (and thus the individual pixels) doesn't affect the framerate at all.

Lets make it clear though that while you may get more frames per second from your machine when running at a lower resolution, once you have enough power to run a nice smooth framerate at a higher resolution then this should generally be the aim.

In other words ideally you want as much resolution as you can get within reason, and you want enough power to drive that resolution at a nice smooth framerate. The most popular being 1920x1080 these days.

So a higher resolution will generally look nicer, a lower resolution will give you a higher framrate with the same hardware. However, the aim is to get a high enough framerate on as high a resolution as you can, which will be the native resolution of your monitor ...or indeed your new monitor if you are getting a new one.
