Question about my overclock.

Hey.

I just manage to overclock my Intel i5 2500k to 4.0Ghz.

CPU Ratio is currently at 40 and 1.25 vcore.

Temps are about 30-35 @ idle and 55-60 @ 100% load (stress test)
------------------------
So, my question is if my overclock seem to be reliable with the vcore and multiplier?

And sometimes at CPU-Z the Core Speed will increase from 1600 -> 4000 Mhz? Is that normal, because I tought when you overclock you will be overclocking the base clock (3.30Ghz?)

Is it any ways to overclock the base clock? so its at 4.0ghz all the time and not use it as boost or something..

Here's my setup:
Intel i5 2500k 3.30Ghz (jumps to 4.0ghz sometimes?)
Noctua nh-u12p (both fans mounted)
Corsair 6GB DDR3
2 Asus radeon hd 6870 in crossfirex
Asus P8P67 Pro
NZXT Phantom
Corsair HX 850W Power supply

EDIT: I made some images that shows more specefic what I mean.

Check at Core Speed. It sometimes goes up from 1600 -> 4000..

Thanks

The speed fluctuates from 1.6-4ghz because you still have speedstep enabled.

Do not touch the baseclock, its considered a bit of a no no.

If the PC can run Prime95 for say 8hrs without error then that is considered stable and reliable.

why would you want it @ 4GHz all the time? such a waste of electic and could shorten the life of the chip. far better to only use it when needed, and as it speeds up pretty quick you wouldnt notice it anyways.

Okey, so I guess I should run prime95 for a couple of hours then and see if its stable.

what do you think about my clock settings?
