Question about new CPU... small scuff marks

I have just bought a new 6800K and although I don't think it's been used, it does have a small 1cm long faint scuff mark just above the middle centre and quite a few other marks on the surface, including 4 odd straight 1-2mm vertical lines... pic below, not deep scratches or anything, but I'm sure I've never seen a CPU like this before. It was OEM, but is this normal and will it potentially affect performance? Should I return for replacement?

Well I don't think it's been used... but condition isn't what I'd expect for sure. I don't think this is acceptable, even for OEM. OEM doesn't mean scuffed up!

where did you buy it from? OcUK?

if so then maybe do a post in the CS section and see what they say

Unfortunately not, and this is a cautionary tale about buying from those Scammers in Bolton. They have told me it's perfectly acceptable for a CPU, and only if it's genuinely faulty would they accept a return under anything else than my simple right to return under CCR... which of course I will be doing (at my expense, but at least it's only a small item). I only bought from them as I was buying something else that OCUK didn't sell... I rarely use them, and from now on will do my utmost never to again!! I will rebuy from OCUK (it's actually on offer now anyway which is a bonus), lesson learned!!

Well I can get Retail for same price as I paid for this OEM, so I'm sending this back. Won't cost much. I've had many OEM CPU's over the years, never seen one like this. Maybe it will be OK, I just don't condone sending such an expensive item out looking like this. Slippery slope.
