Question about non-native resolutions

I'm really tempted on getting the Samsung 206BW, thing is i won't be able to run every game at its native res of 1680x1050.

So my question is if i run games at a lower resolution, would they be stretched or have borders, and would the games still look decent not being in the monitors native res. Also does anyone have any pics showing this?

Sorry for the noob question and if this has been asked before, tried a search but couldn't really find anything.

I have the same monitor and have to run some games in lower res, it will stretch the screen but I find it perectly playable and hardly notice it while playing.
There's probably some lower res widescreen modes that my system may run, but even bothered looking into that.

It certainly wouldn't put me off buying the monitor.
