Just wondering about this "enhance the app aa setting" option, say i have 4x selected in game and i have enhance set to 4x, does this give me 8x in game?

Not 100% sure, but I think it just keeps it at 4x, but the quote below makes it sound like that it may enable a different type of anti-aliasing:

Enhance the application setting works in conjunction with the application and its request for AA, so that the driver can see how it performs its regular AA to see if CSAA can be further applied in conjunction. You set a chosen CSAA mode in the driver and turn on AA in your app too for that setting to work. It's not too clear why the non-CSAA modes are still available as choices with Enhance the application setting, though.

No, if you select Enhance the application and select 8xCSAA in the Nvidia control panel you get 8xCSAA as long as you enabled AA in the game.

so what's the difference between override and enhance? Surely they both have the same effect, using the nvidia setting instead of the in-game setting

Override can be used if the game does not have an AA setting in the game, enhance needs the game to have an AA setting.

So again, what's the point of having both options? If you're not using the ingame settings, then why not just have an override option?

A lot of games dont have the options to go higher than 8xAA..some even 4xAA. If you select 16xAA in the driver settings and select enhance then the drivers use the internal coding to improve the image performnace. If you just force 16xaa in the drivers then what Ive seen you dont get 16xAA in some applications! Enhance is what I use in most games.

Overriding is a brute force way to get AA and it is preferable to use in game AA settings if possible as they are more stable and sometimes work faster.

I use enhance if the game has an AA option and override if it does not.
