Question about online codes.

Hi guys, picked up a ps3 tonight with a few games to replace my fat 60gb which died last night.

The new console came with bf3 and FIFA 12. I am under the impression tha these have online passes which makes them more valuable to sell on (I don't want either game, just plan to sell on and recoup some costs)

My question is, how do i check if they are unused?
Sorry if it's a bit of a silly question, not ever activated an online code before as I don't usually do online gaming on my console

That's what I am thinking but I didn't want to accidentally use it.
My copy of mortal kombat has an online code tha didn't need scratching off which is why I asked.

tried to add them and it said the codes were invalid. oh well
