oh I do like to be beside the seaside
My gf has got a contract with Orange and on her last upgrade she went for a Samsung U600.

I think she's had it about 4 months now and they've already had to swap it for a new one because the camera stopped working.

Now the camera has stopped working and she has problems with receiving text messages (only some of the message comes through).
She's rung Orange again and asked for a different phone make (prob Nokia or SE), but Orange have said no and she's got to stick with the Sammy.

Is this standard or do you reckon if she pushed hard enough she could get something different?

I've never been a fan of samsung, they always break.

And orange have always had problems with sms's being lost or delayed.

Tbh I'd stay away from that network and go with someone like O2...much better customer support...

You get problems with all networks. Never had a problem with orange or their support (appart from getting through sometimes).

You could always phone back and speak to someone else. I agree though, I've had a samsung for >1 year now but I feel the sony ericson had a much better interface. I also hate that every samsung I've seen seems to have a slightly different charger.

I believe the law states that you have to give a company 3 chances to repair/replace a product before you can then insist on a different product, or a refund of some description.

It'll be repaired/replaced by the manufacturer ultimately. You'll have to accept a new U600, I'm afraid.
