Hi,

Now this question I have is about a bit of annoyance with my P45 form.

I have been working for two months and because of the crapiness of my temp agency only just got my payslips for eight weeks & they are taxing me basic rate despite me giving my P45 for to them months ago...Grrr!

No on trying to find my P45 again to give them to sort the whole mess out I can only find a photocopy of the P45 I originally gave them and that is not enough apparently.

The big BUT I have though is my last job was with my university, and was term based, so I worked a year, left, got a P45 - worked a year, left got a P45 along with the students - so while I have only a photocopy of my 2008 P45 from my uni job, I have the full 2007 P45 original - can I just use that?

The only visible difference is my 2008 P45 has a code of 543L and my 2007 a 522L - surely though that will be corrected to a 543L if I hand it in?

It's an annoying mess and has been made worse by the incompetent fools that are Adecco - losing my P45 - and now I have to find / replace it because of there mess up.

So advice - can I hand in a slightly older P45, and still get put on a correct tax code and claim back the missing tax?

Thanks for reading, and hope you can help.

You should ask your current employer for a P46, fill that in, making sure you tick the right box, then return it to them, which will enable them to pay you on the emergency tax code, 603L week/month 1, your tax will be deducted on a week/month basis.

Ask your previous 2008 employer for a statement of earnings, for which they may make a small charge, then once this is received, send it off to your current tax office, so they can sort your details out and once this is done, you will be put onto the correct coding and receive any rebate due.

I can see you have never dealt with adecco :p

When he said incompetant he really meant it. Ive never come across a more stupid bunch of useless arrogant tossers then the ones i met at adecco manchester. And trust me ive seen some right tools in my life working in IT :p
